The competitive world of burgers in Sydney is fierce. Everyone claims they make the best, juiciest, cheesiest, unique, biggest...the list goes on and on.

A new player has jointed the game.

Originally starting in Footscray Melbourne, the crazy kids from 8bit have decided to level up and open shop in the new Darling Square precinct of Sydney.

Bringing together burgers and retro arcade game styling, the laid-back modernised style is one of the drawcards of the place, second to their menu of course. Serving more in the tune of a classic diner-style menu, the options are concise and done well.

Here are 8 things you need to know about the new kid on the burger block..

8- It's got a good vibe- You know they're serving up good burgers when it attracts queues of customers out the door, pretty much every single lunch break. These guys have fast made a name for themselves as serious contenders as one of Sydney's new favourite burger joints.

7- It's good for groups- 8bit is a spacious, brand-spanking new diner which can seat up to 130 people. There is an outdoor eating area too, great for those Sydney summer days

6- Order a side of onion rings. Crispy, freshly fried, these are the perfect sidekick to a burger feast.

5- Order a burger, order a beer. That's right, these guys are fully licensed so you wash down that flame-grilled patty with a pale ale.

4- Vegetarian? There's a burger for that. The 1 up Mushroom Burger doesn't is the divine meat-free alternative made up of crumbed mushroom, cheese, tomato, red onion, green tomato relish, lettuce, mustard and their signature 8bit Sauce

3- Shake, shake, shake, shake, a shake it- Mix it up and order a classic shake, featuring flavours like salted caramel, peanut butter, strawberry cheesecake and Nutella.

2- When you feel like dogging burgers. Order one of the hot dogs, with meaty options like the smoked franks, Kransky and Bratwurst, made equally delicious to their burger pals.

1- They really do taste great. Whether you're a traditionalist who likes an 8bit with cheese, or like your burger with a bit of cluck and order the Golden Axe, whatever your burger of choice is, you won't be left disappointed or hungry!
