camping at Kirwin Farmstay- Mudgee
There is something alluring about packing the bags, the tent, and most importantly the four-legged friend and escaping to a 1200 acre sheep farm to camp the night. Located on the outskirts of Mudgee in New South Wale's central west region, Kirwin Farmstay is a pet-friendly slice of countryside that fills the senses.
I am going to share the experience with you through some of my photography in a new series of photo essays. For some of us travel to new places is not on the cards right now, so I want to take you on these adventures with me through capturing the true essence of these locations.
Autumn, undoubtedly one of the most scenic times of the year to do a road trip across many parts of this great southern land. While the mornings and evenings bring a new found crispness, the days still hold a gentle heat that warms up just in time for lunch breaks.
Camping in autumn brings you even closer to the elements especially when you're staying on a farm. There's the influx of young lambs that restlessly bleet for the attention of their mother's as the dew of morning lingers on just that little bit longer to the tent.
There's no reception here, and I couldn't be happier. Being forced to digitally disconnect from the outside world is something I don't get to experience nearly enough of and am thankful for when it happens. It's invaluable time to spend not being distracted by a neon glow, to look up at the star, watch the fire and be just be present.
The farm has a few spots to pull up camp, all offering privacy and space. There's the resident farm animals as well as a fair share of wildlings that like to call this place home too. Take the time to walk, observe and breathe deep, filling your lungs with the crisp untouched country air.
